Week 6 (23.07.06) Match 1

AC Melon 4 - Celpigs 2

Thriller Gila!

Both teams fielded their new acquisitions as starters in the line-up. The match got off to a super fast tempo with Melon's new striker extraordinaire, Oon, scored after some neat exchanges.
Melon' s stalwart, Henry, added another to make the halftime score 2-0 to Melon.

Second half saw the resurgent Pigs mounting a fanstastic come back, putting Melon's defence under constant pressure. A reckless sliding tackle from behind by Samuel saw gave the Pigs their first penalty of the match. However, nothing was to come out of it as Hon Yau skied the ball after being outwitted by Melon's keeper.

Alwin made amends for the Pigs later with a supeb volley from a corner to give them only their 3rd goal of the campaign but Oon replied immediately with another goal to keep Melon's lead intact.

Pigs' Kok Wai deliciously chipped the ball to fool Melon's keeper to make the score 3-2 but Oon struck again to keep Melon's lead unchanged. Undaunted, Pigs continued pounding Melon's defence and forced another penalty when the ball struck James' hand.

Chi Siang was the penalty taker this time but again, put off by the keeper's superb positioning, sent the ball to heaven and the condemned the Pigs to another hellish defeat.

Man-of-da-match : Onn (Melon)

Goal scorers :-
Oon (Melon) - 3 Goals

Henry (Melon) - 1 Goal

Alwin (Pigs) - 1 Goal

Kok Wai (Pigs) - 1 Goal

pls allow me to enligthen 'mr sepak pisang' on the intricacies and mechanism of penalty kicks as it's not merely kicking the ball into the net.

on penalty kicks, all focus will be on the kicker as he is expected to score, hence the pressure.

however, the keeper is never expected to save the penalty, but any save made will always be a bonus. hence, his main job is to add pressure to the kicker, intimidating, distracting the kicker (think grobbelaar, dudek) to knock the kicker off balance.

hence, when i said outwitted and superb positioning, it's a psychological battle won when the kickers knew i've covered the bottom corners and they've have no choice but forced to aim for the high corners which is harder, hence both ballooned their kicks.

but i don't blame u la.... remembering how u missed that penalty against ISCA last year and lost us the match.

ref half-kayu ..bagi penalty happy happy saja... first one yes ..boleh bagi penalty but second penalty was like ...duh???dun think james handled ball on purpose and neither was the ball on it's way to the goal (think the ball flew from a reflected bounce and looked harmless ...pity james haha..)
Anyway fortunately the keeper did great in pyschoing the strikers . But guess what ...only one ref in league that keeps giving penalty ....ermmm do i sense a similar italian affair somewhere ? hehe ;p

Josh the Ref you mean is me is it?
Can i know why do we always have insufficient players?
Last season it was Jeshua who left 4 NS and our keeper had an injury
This season some fella just had to knick our keeper though he has a really good one already and this forced us to get another keeper when we wanted to get a defender instead
Now we don't have james's brother who probably is frustrated coz he din get enuf playin time and leonard mark who is injured and Josh!where have you been???
Is there anyway anyone can donate any players to my team.maybe on loan or something.we aint supermans.not all of us can sustain a whole game without taking a breather and that includes me too.

Josh just need to be naked, he doesn't need a ref's outfit. LOL

Refs needs to be sure of what they do. I've seen goal bound shots stopped by defenders in the D, but no action taken! I will leave the ref's name out for his sake.

On refs, i think they should not be players who has just played the previous game as they are tired and loses their concentration quickly. Anyway, i think Shawn has reasons to award those penalties because it was heading towards the goal ~ i saw that match.

And yes, why need so many keepers in one team? very suspicious..... They may play with 3 keepers in the D!

I agree with what you said about 'winning some and lossing some' but you see the prob is that there are abundance of strikers out there that you can buy as only most of the defenders were blocked but still chose to take my keeper and use him as a field player when you have the best keeper (in my perspective) on your team. Its not easy playing with a team full of strikers. As much as the brazilians have proven time and again that 'attacking is the best defence',its a whole new game in futsal and by buying our keeper it gives us no choice other then to get another keeper to replace him when the only way of strenghtening our team is to actually buy a defender. And now coupled with all the injuries to others and some players not being committed enough, i most prob will be fielding only 4 players for this sunday's matches. By you actually buying my keeper im loosin everything as i lost my only defender kevin as well.

eh, out of curiousity, why did madreed bought ppl goalie when they already have one? that's the question, man.

nobody's accusing you of not playing by rules....but why, man? if you're not using the keeper you bought, why do a chelski; buying players you won't play so that your opponent can't use them?

if you can't explain that, then i think you're gonna be as 'likeable' as mourinho.

but then, that's just my opinion, man...coz you chose to play by the rules and you're a saint.

that joke about celpig is some serious bad taste, man. everyone knows the answer but out of respect, i think most chose to ignore it but you wouldn't let it go, would you?

you don't kick someone when he's down. when the joke is too near the truth, you don't make fun of it coz' it's painful.

come on la, the pigs are doing their best to keep their heads up every week and hope that their luck would change. in fact, i think they are the best team around in terms of spirit and attitude...something you should take note of, man.
