Week 4 Round-Up : 18 May 2008

Match 19 : Funny-Pasir vs Shiock 04 (2-0)
In their previous encounter, both teams settled for 2-2 draw. In this rematch, FP repeated their scoring feat while Shiock drew a blank. FP edged ahead when Edwin fouled Lawrence on the edge of the box. Lawrence blasted a ferocious shot into goal and the FP players ran back to their half rejoicing. However, their joy was short-lived when the referee claimed that the kick was taken before he blew the whistle. Visibly frustrated, Lawrence retook the kick. This time, the ball bounced off the wall to Andy, who blasted into goal. Justice served. Shiock fought back gamely but found the going very hard against the stingiest defence (7 goals conceded only) in the league this season. Oon hardly received the ball as his chief supplier, Henry, was totally marked out; and when the former did receive the ball, Andy was on to him in a flash. FP’s new 3.8million signing, Andrew, snatched FP’s second goal when the ball bundled underneath the keeper’s body.

Match 20 : Sell-si FC vs Real Madreed (5-0)
Revenge is best served cold. Earlier in the season, RM thumped SS 5-0; but in this return leg, it was SS turn to thump a weakened RM team with the same scoreline. RM went to the court without their star player, Suresh, and their weakness was laid bare from the kick-off whistle. Though RM get the kick-off, their player give the ball away cheaply and immediately to Jeshua, who let rip a shot. Fortunately, Sirnloong was sharp enough to turn the shot away. SS first came from a Shawn’s corner, which Jeshua turned in unmarked into goal. Jeshua scored another when RM’s player was slow to respond to their keeper’s throw. Jeshua sneaked ahead, stole the ball and slot passed the helpless keeper. SS was then having a party as RM can’t seem to string decent passes together, not even if their lives were depending on it. It was simply an off day for RM as SS kept popping shots at poor Sirnloong. Shawn added another before Melvin and Samuel scored from corners. The tally would have been higher if not for some frantic but brave saves from Sirnloong, who literally dived at the on-rushing players feet for the ball.

Match 21 : Severe-ah? vs Shiock 04 (2-3)
SA’s revival grounded to a halt as they failed again to overcome Shiock; they lost the first game 2-4. Kokwai scrambled the ball into goal thru a sea of legs for Shiock’s first goal. SA attacked in numbers but their lack of finishing was glaring as many chances went a-begging. SA was handed a lifeline went Kokwai fouled Fly-Boy aka Weeliam (as he always seemed to be flying, either voluntarily or involuntarily when kena langgar) in the box. Lil’Kev converted the kick to equalize. SA edged ahead when Lionel cheekily back-heeled a cross from Fly-Boy into goal, with the keeper well stranded. SA lead did not last long as Shiock’s 4.7 million investment in Oon began to reap its reward. Oon came alive in the final moments of the match to score 2 goals to give Shiock a crucial victory and keep their title challenge alive.

Match 22 : MCU vs Sell-si FC (5-3)
It was MCU’s turn to avenge their defeat to SS in the first match of the season. Things started brightly for SS though when they took an early 2 goal lead, one of them courtesy of an own goal from Alwin while the other was from Jeshua. MCU crawled back with an extraordinary strike from Samshen. Taking the cue from his keeper, Victor also unleased a shot from his own half that rolled past the blindsided SS keeper to draw level. The excitement and intensity level went up a few notches higher from here on. Jeshua put SS ahead only for Daniel to equalize via a disputed goal. SS furiously claimed that their keeper was impeded prior to the goal but the referee thought otherwise. Alwin then turned from zero to hero with two skillfully executed goals to earn MCU a hard fought victory.

Match 23 : Real Madreed vs Funny-Pasir (0-3)
Prior to the match, FP’s manager was overheard telling his players to focus and not to get over confident against the depleted RM side. As expected, FP surged ahead with a 2 goals strike from Lawrence. Andy kept urging his team-mates to focus because at 2-0, it’s still a close game. RM was struggling to keep possession of the ball and was akin to having a Jusco sale on the field..….they are giving the ball away at steep discount and cheaply. FP, on their part, was having an easy time passing the ball around and taking pot-shots at RM’s goal. It was their players’ lack of accuracy that actually kept the score down. Edrian finally added a third goal for FP before the referee called time out.

Match 24 : Severe-ah? vs MCU (1-6)
MCU repeated their victory over SA but with a more emphatic score. Their earlier goliath effort against Shiock seemed to have zap SA of their energy as they seemed listless and lethargic. MCU edged ahead when Daniel score his customary goal. Ryan scored a freakish own goal when his backpass was too strong for Lil’kev to stop and the ball rolled in past the line. The Dubious Goal Committee is still undecided on whether to reward the goal to Ryan or Lil’kev. Victor scored another for MCU before Jongchiueh pulled one back for SA. SA’s comeback was shortlived as Jianyi scored 2 while Daniel added another in between Jianyi’s goal. With this win, MCU is firmly perched at the summit of the league and is the red-hot favourites to win the league.

this week final matches call for whichever team play with maturity may hold the trump card, to be the champion this time, judging from the points system, it will be very close matches this final weekend.
thus it calls for maturity n nerves, teams can plan n deploy strategies n tactical plans n moves, but in such situation, where the champion can be only decide on the last day of the competition, maturity plays a very crucial part for teams in contention for the title.
congrats to victor team, as i mentioned earlier in the blog, victor team is a team to watch out for as they blend n gel nicely, they did hav a couple of poor matches in early rounds, but that is normal, as every new team need time to settle down.
but come this sunday, it would be very interesting to see whether victor team have the maturity to hold on to their lead n claim the title for the 1st time.
by toppin the table by slim points, they have added pressure onto themselves,
this call for maturity n strong nerves n mind,
teams with weak minds n unmaturity in their play, will fall on the last day of the match.

i wish all the teams well. remember there no last placing in this competition, its 1st placing to 6th placings n we all here to have fun and friendships

Hmm... Fly Boy? I think fast players could be better protected. He's not the only one who is fast and gets kicked because the opponent is slower. I'm not saying opponents were malicious, but they (i think Shawn, Jeshua and Daniel are in the same category as fast players) just get to the ball faster.

Kicking a player whether intentionally or unintentionally is still a foul.

I am deeply concerned as many players still don't understand the rule of sliding tackle. This is not football, there is no such thing as sliding tackle. If someones slides n touches an opposition, it is an instant foul. There are no exceptions to this rule. Please bear this in mind players and especially referees, no such thing as 50-50 challenge for sliding tackles.

1:20 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

hmm... since these rulez are meant for all players to adhere, maybe we need a copy either by this blog, doc downloadable via a site,or even hardcopy. word of mouths by refs or managers may go unnoticed or even ignored.

plus i'm sure these rulez changes every season, so players may not know which are enforce and which are not.

That means even the opponent is sliding in to shoot (lionel) and kok wai was doing a sliding to protect . Both trying to get to the ball first (i was right in front - and it wasn't a full slide , both streching rt leg and left knee on ground )
Think gilbert got the right call on that wan ( Calling that as a foul against Shiocke defender ..benefit of doubt )As ref I would have done the same call for any other similar situation if both fellas sliding in , mayb card them both and give free kick to defending side :p

Flyboy needs to get gravitational shoes and wear elbow guard . Cause the way he falls by slightest contact scares me alot . Average of 2 x in 1 game ? . I know he doesn't do it intentionally . Yes becuz he's fast and .. light (like nani ). But it's difficult to judge if both feet (flyboy and opponent) touches the BALL at the same time and flyboy flys ....some refs give freekick to flyboy .... pls comment then chief ref.

kicking a player whether intentionally or untentionally, even off the ball is still a foul. its not foul only when a player made contact with the ball in fullness. thats the rules. even if a player nearer to the ball, made a contact on the player who is further but is fast to get to the ball, thus the other player who was nearer to the ball, made untentional contact on the fast player. the fifa rule is still a foul.

on sliding tackles, i think the organiser has made it clear that, no sliding tackles are allowed in the match, n that its an offence or foul when a player does a sliding tackles.

it pays to be attentive to the rules n conditions set for the competiton.
i agreed with duck n futsal master wat they mentioned here, n also wat shawn said too. we are not playin on grass field, its either cement or thin capeted topped , n therefore, injuries can be very serious,
i think its gud to apply rules to ban sliding tackles so as to protect everyone from gettin injured, the futsal ground is hard n if not careful, can even break some u guys bones, we wouldnt want it to happen to anyone.
i encourage all players to restrain from making sliding tackles, as to avoid injuries. regardin bout flyboy, he light, lightweight, would encourage him to build up some muscles,
he needs to time when he should use his speed n also turnings to avoid tackles.
he nippy type player, n usually those small nippy palyer are very fast but light as well, therefore its gud if he tones up some muscles n he can be even much better player.
its b gud hat a hard copy be giving to every tema manger concerning the rules n conditions of the game, n its the managers responsibility to read out to their players n ensure that they play by it.
its just my suggestions on this matters. im just a spectator watchin u guys play every weekends

all the best come this sunday, to every teams.

i'm thinking that shawn has got it all wrong about the concept of sliding tackles.

from what i've seen some players doing and what i myself have personally done, no one is doing real sliding tackles like those in the big field.....whereby we lunged in and fly with our legs first from 3 to 4 feet away.

what actually happened is that the players just sometimes over-stretch their foot trying to reach for the ball.

when that happened, naturally the law of gravity kicks in and your other leg will give way, MAKING it look like a slide.

if they were REAL sliding tackles,we would have cases of real bad injuries from those as most slides are 50-50.

nonetheless, all players pls becareful, coz' none of us got full-time players insurance....plus the fact we've some 'fragilistic complainin-maximus-donnas'

a few of us were really amused and broke into guffaws laughter during an incident on sunday where alwin nicked the ball CLEANLY from the running Shawn. it was a clean and seemed like a contactless challenge, yet shawn squealed like a pig in labour and then went complaining to the black momma with whistle :D

Futsal Master,

I think Uncle Peter has answered your question here. On the incident involving Oon and Wee Liam, the ball was in front of Oon but Wee Liam got to it first. That is why he got kicked by Oon (unintentional) because Oon wants to clear it. But since Wee Liam got the ball, it was a foul.

As is the Fifa rule, if you kick a ball, but your leg follow through and whack the player nearby its still a foul. You are not allowed to kick anyone.

Sliding tackles are fouls, no doubt about it. Given the fact, the ref was unsure and the lines man says play on, there is really nothing much others can do about it. Ref decision is final.

However, what is the logic of a player who is having the ball right in front of him, near his feet needs to slide? And if you say the defender slipped, how is it that his leg can be stretched out to touch the opponent's leg? But that call has been made, and it stands.\

I am not saying players sliding in are malicious, its probably natural instinct. But that needs to be controlled, we have seen it done by the same group of players over and over again. Yet no caution is given and that again will encourage others to do it as they can get away with it. In fact, i have told refs that all sliding tackles warrants a direct yellow card.

Like it is said before, whether it is 50-50, it still does not warrant a sliding tackle as we have all made it known from previous seasons that sliding tackles are banned.

I know it is a heated match when decisions go against your team. But if you were in our shoes, its been like that to the factor of 10. there is really nothing we can do about it when the ref has decided.

But i'd say Gilbert did well on all accounts in the match. Although personally, i'd say no ref in his right mind will award a second penalty in such a short period even professional refs. Refs are human too.

The moment one leg is stretching for the ball and the standing leg gives way, it is a sliding tackle. The danger of a sliding tackle is that you no longer have control over your momentum. If your opponent suddenly changes direction, there is no way for you to pull out because one leg is stretching in and the other is no longer planted to give you leverage. When a tackle is made in a standing position, you are always in control. Once you let the laws of physics take over, you cannot pull out of a tackle even if you know getting the ball is impossible.

It is not to say sliding tackles are always dangerous, they are sometimes executed cleanly. But it is exactly this lack of control once it has been put in motion that increases the risk of potential injury.

Tell you the truth, professional players fall even more easily, so tht ref can spot a foul. But I don't beleive Wee Liam likes to tumble around on a hard court unless his mind is not right.

If there is contact and especially if the contact is made when you're running fast, you will fall. Physics.
Same goes for Daniel. Shawn and Jeshua has better build, so they dont fall so easily, but it doesnt mean its not a foul if they get kicked.

Do you think Cristiano Ronaldo falls too easily? And why he gets whack sometimes? Its the same, they get to the ball faster, the move faster than the tackler (late tackle fouls).

In field football, sliding tackles are normal. But in an indoor court, its dangerous and that is why its banned.

it will be good if rules applied, be printed in hard covers n given to all managers of respective teams n its the managers responsibilities to ensure that their players play by the rules to make thing less complicated.
i remembered when i played the first season, n the organiser read out the rules of the competition, such as sliding tackles are not allowed n if its used, then its a foul n given to the opposition teams, again it for the refs to judge whether it warrant or not(refs decision are always final) beside that, there was rule that that when ball hit the top net n flew into goal, then its a goal!!, it pay to be attentive to listen to what the rules applied here n carry it to the pitch, i tried n played throughout the competition both when i was on pasar fc n later shiock04, reminding myself, no sliding tackles from me!!!. being a defender, as everyone knows, normally hav the tendency to slide in to tackle to ball to prevent opponent from gettin the ball first.
what i did, was i find a way how then to defend effectively as much as possible without having to make sliding tackles,
this is a good experience for those who are defenders playin futsal.
what i did was then i played compact defending. i close down my opponents. futsal pitch is not big as open field, so i measured the distance between my goal n the opponent who has the ball coming towards me, i timed when i should closed down on him, and even if he passed me, there's not much space left for him to use his speed towards my team goal ample time for my goalie or teammate who is the nearest or even me to get back and cover.
perhaps if some you guys could recalled, i hardly slide in to tackle in the last competiton i played. sense of good positioning is effective too. victor, im proud of u, u shown that u have good sense in positioning, he must have learnt it from fanco baresi(italy or franz beckenbauer(germany)in just matter of shor time, victor, u plaed very well, where n who did you learned from ha??? incredible!!!.
i have hurt myself badly when i fell in futsal, the ground so hard, my left hip bone hurts till today n that was months ago even before i played in the competition.i wouldnt want it to happen to any of u guys.
in open field. the grass usually soft helped prevent some injuries.
lets play and play to enjoy n have fun and avoid injuries yeah.

kok wai, where my tiger beeerrrrrrrrr????? just joking

fast players with speed, when they run, there's no gravity protection cos they r running in full flight, therefore a slight push can even floor em. if u noticed those 100m runners they toned up with muscles, besides giving em faster in sprinting with all those muslces, it helps to balance em when they running in full flight. therefore its good if those fast players toned up their muscles cos it will helps em alot. our late malaysian striker moktar dahari, is a very good xample. he has great speed, n that was his strength besides his thounderbolt shots with both legs, but he built strong n stout, i played against him before, its very hard to tackle him down when he running in full flight, cos of his toned up muscles, he not muscular like those body builder, but he built muscles enough that he can withstand tackles n takes tackles from defenders. u dunt find moktar fallin down easily with every tackles landed on him cos he strong built. muscles do helped.

to showed u young guys how fast moktar was... he scored both the goals (2-0) when our malaysia national team beat arsenal (yes arsenal of epl!!!), n both his goals, came, when he outsprint the arsenal defence from middle of the field n slotted in past the spraqling arsenal goalie.!!! arsenal had some of their 1st team players playing for arsenal that day, arsenal was already a household name in englsih soccer then along with liverpool mu n leeds utd then.
thats was how fast moktar dahari was!!1 that immediately after the match, bertie mee arsenal manager then. offered 200 thousand pounds to buy moktar, that was lots of monies those days.
moktar turned down arsenal offer cos, our time, we played for pride n honor n not for glory n fame. bertie mee then went on to say, moktar dahari, can step in any english 1 division temas as 1st choice player!!! ( those days, epl highest is 1st division only where liverpool mu chelsea arsenal etc played)

so arsenal fans, dont be sad ya!!! malaysia did beat arsenal fc before courtesy 2 great goals from moktar dahari.

oh, i forgot there was a tackle on Chris by Mervin, if not mistaken it was a sliding tackle and chris was injured after that.

Guys, its time to think what sliding tackles can do to your FRIEND who is playing against you. What if he falls and break his arm, leg or head on the hard court? Rules are there for a reason.

Shiock should be counting their blessings for not hvin to concede a second penalty and not having their manager sent off for 2 yellow card offence which they will play with 4 men for 2 mins thereafter. The results may be different, And kok wai will also have to miss their important game against MCU next week as a result of collecting a red card. Not to mention an off ball challenge which in normal games could result to a minimum yellow card (ref did not notice as the player stood his ground). It could easily been 2 red cards there to two of their most important players.

Whoever this administrator is really needs to take awhile in reading each and every message here and analyse each and every play when the game are going on.
Im pretty sure that if you were in my position, you would probably b rolling on the ground if you know how much it hurt but players like me are not born wimps to fall at every challenge. If it hurts we shout or 'squeall like a pig' from yr perspective but if we can fight through the pain and carry on playing, why put up a show? If it was a clean tackle would i protest?Am i that type of player, you tell me?Everyone knows that i only fall or shout if it really hurts,i have far too much of passion in football to make me a fairly good player, i dont need to put up an act.
Like i said you should really analyse every play before posting up your comments. A you can see someone like even Uncle Peter can agree with me than we really need to look twice into this issue. I believe as a ref when making decisions, never allow your decisions to put you in the centre of controversy. It doesnt matter if yr decision only affects the game you are refereeing(the players in that game are bound to appeal), but if it affects the others that are watching, then you know that there is something wrong.

Back to the issue of sliding tackles, to those referee who still puts themselves in a position to think that there is a 50-50 challenge for sliding tackles where 2 players of the opposite teams are sliding, here is a pointer, award the ball to the defending team, and play the advantage, simple, we dont really need a Degree to know that. And please dont try to differentiate sliding tackles with just strecthing legs. If ur on the floor and you leg is stretched out and you touch a player, it is a foul, the only part where you have to think twice is when that challenge leads to a penalty or a goal, thats where your linesman comes in. Just like what Alwin did when we player SA the second time round, he consulted the linesman before awarding the penalty though he initially didn't see the point of doing so, well done to him on that, but just for every other referee out there, the linesman are there for a reason, to help you from make your decisions on those '50-50's'. Many dont even look at the linesman for a whole game.
I quote from an anonymous person
'kicking a player whether intentionally or untentionally, even off the ball is still a foul. its not foul only when a player made contact with the ball in fullness. thats the rules. even if a player nearer to the ball, made a contact on the player who is further but is fast to get to the ball, thus the other player who was nearer to the ball, made untentional contact on the fast player. the fifa rule is still a foul'. Bravo to you, whoever you are, for taking the time to read the rules.
I personally would think twice of playing in a match with all these sliding tackles. That is why never once have you seen me make a sliding tackle, ever. The damages those sliding tackles does might not take full effect on the receiver till later in the game, so there are no grounds to say that play can continue cz a player is not injured. Look at uncle christopher, in his last game, the initial tackle saw him just get up and continue playing as he being a keeper would like to continue paying attention to the game and not concede, he stood strong for that brief period while the opposition was attackng but i can bet that many didnt, see him limping when his team was attacking? I felt really bad for him yesterday, im sure he felt alot of pain but play still went on believe it or not.

Guys, I believe it will never end if you continue to fight over this issue of sliding tackles...

I think it's pretty obviously that it's not allowed and that the referees have indeed been lenient.. but bravo to them... it's not easy being in their shoes... they do try their very best to ensure play goes on as smoothly as possible and that every player stays on the pitch if possible..

Moreover, this is not a FIFA tournament.. yes, we play to win.. but we also wanna have lotsa fun here.. yes, sliding tackles are dangerous and can cause injuries... so we do try our very best not to go in like that..

At the end of the day, we want this to be a friendly tournament, am I right?
So let's not call each others names and point fingers here and there.. many of us are Christians here.. so let's try our very best to let our actions show we're truly Christians ..

I'm sure all parties involved are trying their best to make this a pleasant tournament for us all to enjoy..

Cheers..

i believe mostg of u guys are christians, i remember pastor nancy once encouraged me to play like a christian n win like one. in my young days, i was not only a good soccer player, i was tough aggressive n mean n i do hurt people with my tackles, as i played in the leagues n being taught n played that manner. prefessional fouls, u named it, i used it if not all...
but when i became a christian, it was very hard ofr me initially to change my style of play as for years ive being trained n taught to rough up, bullied up, kick back, pull him down, bring him doiwn, hurt him bad... in the leagues...
many times my tempers flew on the ptich when i used to play soccer for metro then.
pastor nancy was the one who encouraged me n put me back on my feet, she had faith in me when many dunt, regarding my change of play from secular to christian like.
today as i recalled it back , im indebt to her. she taught me that winning dunt have to win by such manners but u can win playing christian like in ther field.
christopher yong, was always there to ensure i dunt lose my cool during the games.
he knows all bout me , when i apled good football and when i played mean football.
i always been stressing here to u guys to play well n win well n lose well n play with true sportmanship n i even emphasies friednships.
u are playing against one another whom u guys knows each other well enough... n its called"your friends". compete each other well in friendship n hold no grudges, unintentional fouls n words exhcnaged should be forgiven to each other . when the whistle blow to end the match.
its better to play and win friends than to play to make enemies.
most of u guys still young... one day when u reahced my age. some of u may then relaise what i said here when u are the ones who is coming weeks after weeks as spectator to watch ur friends n sons play this beautiful game( by then im long dead n gone).
i made lots of mistakes in my life time... i shared with u gys with one motive only... not to uphold myself.. i dunt want any of u guys to make the same mistakes i made in life... that is true. i dunt go to church anymore for the past 7years, but deep in my heart. i not renounce christianity from my soul n spirit.
uncle is not a man who like limelight n attention or reconigtions, i prefers homely quiet life away from the lights n attentions.
but wat im tryin to inpart to u guys is wat i think its gud n advisable and nothing bad.
sometime i said bout my opast misdeeds but my intention is that please dont do whats wrong uncle did in my life time.
im old now, i wish i can turn the clock back n redo my wrongs , if only i could, i surely would, but time waits for no man... i cant change my wrongs then but i can advice guys like u all not to do it...
many of the fouls were untentionals but what is past, lets bury it forgive n forget as christ forgives n love again...
im not a holy joe here... but i live with this principles to forgive n to forget...
who knows comes a few year time, or even nex tyear, i be dead n gone... we never know.. but while we still living young or old its doesnt matter, let live n love in warm friendships n harmony. the world is gettin colder but we dunt need to be ... cos we know n value each other... even thru our differences...
uncle repsects each and everyone of you, wvwn all of u are much younger than me except maybe andy who is 48, though he still younger than me, andy do have my utmost respects, same goes to voon and to every one of you young gentleman.
if only you could read why uncle comes and watch u gys play week after week when i should be enjoyin myself somewhere else,
beside havein a big heart for the game, uncle have the utmost respects to each and every one of u .. thats why i come week after week whether im playin or not... i still come... friendships!! thats why i kept coming,
so my dear friends here,
everyone young and old.. play the beautiful game n play to win friendship above everything else.

god bless each and everyone of u guys

uncle peter

WALAOwei...When i left my computer yesterday. There were 15 comments and now there's 48??

I can't remember exactly every detail about what and was said by who.

Firstly, i agree with what Verat said. Maybe there should be a use of visual aids regarding this whole sliding tackling issue. To be fair to everyone, sometimes it happens by accident. I believe that no one in this league has done any malicious attempts to injure anyone. So with pictures, then it would be easier also for those who are refereeing to judge the situation and award the right decision. That way I don't think any can in any possible way question the referee's decision, Even though as said The Referee's decision is FINAL.

In reply to the need for more protection on fast players. It's a subjective thing really. I personally don't think more protection is needed as the attacking teams already have an edge in most 50-50 situations. As said no one is out with the intention to injure someone else, so there's no need for it.

I speak from a view of playing both ends of the field, when you're the attacking player you have to protect yourself. If you see an opponent already charging for the ball, don't rush in as you risk yourself getting injured, however if you choose to go for it, it is at your own risk do not expect the referee's to protect. In other words, learn to avoid tackles. If there were special rules to accomodate different players then it's going to be a very complicated game. So players should to their best abilities work within the constrain of the given rules.

On the defensive side, as what Raymond said "The moment one leg is stretching for the ball and the standing leg gives way, it is a sliding tackle. The danger of a sliding tackle is that you no longer have control over your momentum. If your opponent suddenly changes direction, there is no way for you to pull out because one leg is stretching in and the other is no longer planted to give you leverage." and also what Uncle Peter said about position and which clearly Victor has practiced very well. No need sliding tackles to defend adequately. With all the talk about momentum and all. More importantly, defenders you are in charge of your actions. If you decide to stand still and not move, you won't slide down. Bottom line you are in control. Another reminder if you don't protect youself, then no one will.

However, if on the Oon and Wee Liam incident. It was a 50-50 ball, both have equal rights to get the ball and Wee Liam was there quicker than Oon. Whoever is faster, gets the ball. No more should be said. Oon accidently kicked Wee Liam, that's a foul cause Wee Liam got the ball and Oon caught Wee Liam. So therefore, that's a foul and if i remembered correctly a free-kick was awarded. Right decision made.

On to the Chris and Mervin incident. I think Mervin should have been carded for his tackle. Cause sliding tackle is a controllable action and it was probably needless to slide in anyway. Bravo to Chris for not making a meal of out that incident, which he could have so easily done so.

About who administrator is..I don't think the identity should be revealed as whoever this person is would be place in a very tight spot. He is doing this maintainence of the blog, which is pretty much a thankless job in my opinion and mind you he isn't getting paid either. So let administrator stay as annoymous, those who got their suspicion on who it is, keep your guesses to yourself.

Uncle Peter, once again thanks for your input of knowledge. Many of us have benefited from your experience and knowledge of the game.

Ok, next week, we MUST take some photo's of Wee Liam flying :P (visual aids). Just joking, i hope it doesn't happen to him again. By the end of the first game he couldn't really feel his feet.

Like i always say (although none may be listening), play competitively but play fair. Play strong but play clean as well. I have to remind myself all the time before i enter the pitch bcoz i do forget sometimes when the adrenaline starts to pump. Remember the reason we started these Sunday evening futsal games. It's about having a fun time playin the game we love with our mates. This motivates me to NOT put in those tackles (sliding tackles and wat nots) tht may result in gettin someone injured. I definitely can play hard if i want to; also, Uncle Peter, with his exposure/experience in the pro leagues, have shared with me some years ago how pro defenders break the opponent's leg. very easy to do it wan *ouch*
I must confess tht i have pulled out of some 50-50 situations because I tell myself wat's the point of winning the challenge/game if someone's gonna be on crutches for a few months after. Well, some may say i lack the passion but that is my conviction n decision. Having said tht, I may not walk my talk 100% of the time. In those times i'd appreciate if you brothers come talk to me. Or ref can give me a card :p Iron sharpens iron...

You'll Never Walk Alone,
Alwin

i agreed with what alwin said here. if u guys can recalled the match between arsenal and birmingham city which ended up edcuardo feet being broken by the reckless madness tackles of taylor.
only talyor knows whether was it intentional or not cos it was a very late sliding tackle.
that is why i believe the organiser does not permit sliding tackles in this competition n its also applied in futsal international tournaments.
the bottom line is they dont want to see any of you guys get injured but again, everyone of us must help to make sure it dont happen by trying our best not to commit into making sliding tackles on our friendly opponents.

everyone of us have a part to play, to ensure that everyone stay injury free as much as possible.lets abide by the rules lay down and play by the rules. that way, we surely enjoy and have much more fun and laughters.

thanks guys
