FINAL League Standing @ Week 6 : 28 September 2008

After 6 tumultuous and super exciting weeks, the results are in….the Champion for Season 3/2008 is MEN’SCHESTHAIR!!!

Bravos to the winning team and kudos to everyone for competing well!

The final league table are as follows :-

1. MCH – 19 pts / GD = +12

2. JC - 17 pts / GD = +12

3. FLT – 13 pts / GD = +14

4. LLf – 7 pts / GD = +1

5. RM - 1 pt / GD = -39

Match 16 : Live-Like-Fools vs JC's Barf-alone-ah (2-4)
This was a must win game for JC. After all the tough talking and trash walking the previous week, LLf started in their usual stride….conceding the early goal again, this time via corner deftly put in by Jeshua. JC added another 2 more goals as LLf seemed to have left for their Raya holidays early. At 3-0 down, at last LLf woken up and snatched back 2 goals to galvanize hope of at least salvaging something for this but in the end, JC struck again to extinguish the last flicker of fight back from LLf. In the end, sensing the inevitable, LLf just plodded along, conserving energy for their final but pride redeeming match against RM.

MOTM - Daniel

Match 17 : Florence&Tina vs Real Madreed vs (7-2)
RM was forced to field only 4 players as its members went MIA. FLT however, played with 5 players, albeit chances were given the substitutes to start the game. Outnumbered and outplayed, RM quickly found themselves trailing 0-4 thru goals by all the 4 FLT’s outfield players, Victor, Raymond, Alwin and Melvyn. Bruised and battered, RM gamely fought on and pulled a goal back thru Mervyn. FLT were not thru yet and hit RM with another 2 goals before one of RM’s MIA players resurfaced. Now that the disparity in number is overcome, RM managed to grab another goal. FLT had the last say when Samshen, playing outfield for the first time this season, headed the ball in past the stunned RM’s keeper for the last goal.

MOTM – Alwin

Match 18 : Men’s-ChestHair vs JC's Barf-alone-ah (2-2)
This was an extremely important match for both teams. Whoever wins this will win the league but a draw will transfer the impetus to the last match between MCH and the Freakazoids. The hurricane came and battered MCH but you can always count on Steady Andy to save the day. Besides the battle of the managers, it is also a battle between father and son, Steady Andy and Dynamite Dan. JC huffed and puffed but alas, whatever they threw against MCH was repelled back by the stubborn MCH led by Hairy Eddy. MCH got the first salvo thru Andy but JC hit back incisively thru Jeshua’s freekick and Daniel. JC seemed to be heading for victory as Aaron played like a man possessed, blocking every shot thrown at him. As the clock ticked down, MCH became more exasperated and Hairy Eddy wase forced to try shooting from far to force the equalizing goal. All seemed lost for MCH until Andy rose to the occasion again to level the score in the dying minutes, much to JC’s despair.

MOTM – Andy

Match 19 : Live-Like-Fools vs Real Madreed (11-4)
Stand-up comedy aptly summed this game up. Both teams got nothing to play for but pride and fun, not necessarily in that order. LLf started aggressively but the team seemed to have put on the wrong shoes during the break as their finishing was atrocious. RM went ahead when an innocuous looking shot from Gilbert, playing as keeper, hit LLf’s keeper and went in for goal, much to everyone’s amusement. LLf’s manager was later quoted as saying that it was a calculated mistake, aimed to shock his player into playing properly. True or not, it worked because LLf then went on a rampage, notching 11 goals in between the 3 more goals by RM. The players seemed to go on a scoring frenzy, notching goal after goal, irrespective of whether it was their opponent’s goal or their own goal. In the end, both teams contrived to create league history for the highest scoring game, 15 goals in total. Luckily, it was not all one sided.

MOTM - Jeremy

Match 20 : Men’s-ChestHair vs Florence&Tina (2-1)
After their battling and bruising draw with JC, MCH needed to summon all their reserve energy for a victory here, because anything less than that will hand JC the title. FLT however, was not in a giving mood as they struck first through Raymond. This stunned MCH greatly and put them under even more pressure. Again, the hero of day came to their rescue when Andy scored from a Flyboy’s cross to equalize. MCH went further ahead when Andy capitalized on Melvyn’s hesitation to close him down to score from a corner. Not satisfied with the slim one-goal margin, MCH continued pushing for the killer goal but FLT stood him. Instead, it was FLT who was nearer to scoring with shots after shots hammering MCH’s goal but fortunately for MCH, Feiloong’s was playing the game of his life to eventually help MCH win the title for the first time ever.

Prize giving ceremony and season-end dinner will be held in 2 weeks’ time at a place and time to be announced later. Prices and menu will depend on whether we can locate our missing treasurer, who has gone into hiding from ah-longs due to unsettled debts from betting on the futsal matches.

There are no winners or losers in futsal, only survivors. You shall have approximately 2-3 months to rest and nurse you injuries, before we resume battle again soon.

Congratulations to everyone, winners and 'pre-winners' alike.

MCH's team probably has the best in terms of a stable defense and quick offensive players. The most balanced team all round. I think Andy's experience in defense and two very sharp nippy players in Hon Yau and WeeLiam makes them very very hard to beat.

Btw, my team mates ROCKs too! FLT scored the most goals in this season.

err, sorry to burst your bubble, ducky, but JC scored the most goal leh...with 29 goals. Your team scored only 27, but you do have the best goal difference la :P

sorry la, jeremy.

that game got too many goals, too many incidents and too much laughing.

if i were to write in details, it would be like a full blown novel.

if i were to mention that hattrick, i would also have to mention to miskicks.....eh? :P

if only we could have to MVPs this season, i tink uncle andy and casiloong really deserved it...

oi it wasnt my fault lah.. i was just standing there... the ball come to my face.. some more the hairy manager was the one who told me to go front to chap kai from rebound.. hahaha...

aiya, such a pity we didn't have video recording of the matches yesterday...it's like everyone chose yesterday to be mr funny on the field.

i think i'll vote for flyboy ball-to-head incident as the best of the lot.

i can still remember it like in slow motion...edrian kicked, ball flying to top corner, suddenly out of nowhere flyboy ran across goal but wasn't looking at the ball and BANGGG!!!!

fly-boy went astro and started seeing stars and birds....damn hilarious.

another one is when gilbert took freekick, the ball hit oon on the face, gilbert was busy apologizing but oon just ran ahead, grab the rebound and scored while gilbert was still rooted at the spot with a look of bewilderment.

petrol expenses to futsal-rm5, futsal expenses-rm10, look on flyboy and gilbert's face-priceless

:D

Nah, it all comes down to consistency. I think it has to be Daniel, although Sirn Loong would come pretty close to MVP. Daniel is the only player to score in every game, a record almost no one can come close to. 4 man-of-the-match awards, how not to vote for Daniel la.

5:17 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

yup, but u uncle andy was very well consistent in his defensive role... its only until the 2nd half of the season he start scoring also... can defend... can score... still not mvp?
wah

it was his help in defense enabling us to have such a balance between offense and defense ^^

it is easy to get noticed when you're scoring a lot of goals but then there are many aspects that contribute to the victory besides scorings like assisting or doing mop-up job in the defense...like mascherano. you can't say that torres contribution is more than mascherano because both contribute differently.

likewise, daniel is not a runaway favourite for the title...like weeliam said, steady andy ranks quite high too.

then, there's other like samshen, sirnloong, kokwai, melvyn, etc, etc,

it all shall be made clear in 2 weeks time :)

in the meantime, what you say or write will be used by the jury to decide the MVP.

so, keep on pushing for your fav player.

due to money politics and potential threat of molotov cocktails, the jury shall be remained anonymous for the time being....until we have money to hire personal security guards for them.

agree with what mr admin said.

daniel is a good player... on form and being top scorer for 2 seasons in a row..

but i think uncle andy is more worth being MVP for this season judging by his contributions to his team as an overall player. (def in first half of the season and scoring crucial goals in the second half) hehehe

daniel win golden boot enuf lah!

LoL, only our league can come up with the most bizarre awards. Hmmmm i think would have to agree on both of you on Daniel and Andy. Daniel is a complete out and out striker which is capable of winning any game. Andy is an amazing defensive player but my vote will come down to consistency in the positions they play at. If you look at the game between MCH and JC, Edrian and Andy didnt really do much, it all came down to Sirn Loong making the saves over and over again. Andy gave away the ball pretty often only for Sirn Loong to come out with awesome saves or maybe it was just down to JC's poor finishing and the post ofcourse. Andy definitely did a good job of taking Shawn out of the game, although it was an unintentional foul but it was a good one cz everytime Shawn is out of the game JC conceded and were always looking frail.I personally think that this season solely belongs to Daniel for not just one season, but two seasons of consistent goal-scoring, im just sad for him that he has to settle for runner-ups twice. What a pity.

7:33 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

haha, thats y said loong played extremely well during the game...

anyway, JC is a fully offensive team. surely of course their team will be pounding on their opponent's goal throughout the game. but uncle andy helped a lot in reducing their clear cut chances and of course, casiloong stood up to the game. go casiloong!

haha anyway, we both have our stand. i tink should stop here and see wat the rest say. hehe

PS: I vote for uncle andy for mvp. Daniel should take the golden boot. Then father and son can use the trophy to go all light saber on each other.

Haha, i have to give credit to Sirn Loong. Being the last pick, he proved every single one of us wrong, i have to say, im amazed by the way he played, i havent seen any keeper come close to what he did especially against us yesterday. My vote either goes to Daniel or Sirn Loong, i also think Alwin has come to life this season.

9:19 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Here's the thing, Daniel is less effective when playing against Andy. Andy's game is based on positioning and attacking the ball at the right time which only comes with years of experience.

Yes, ducky has not won it yet. But so are many others out there. Stepping all over me eh? It's fine with me even if i dont win it. For the fun of the game and I enjoy playing my part in my team that's enough. You don't have to win all the time although winning feels good.

ANONYMOUS SCORED A HATTRICK! not many players can do that.

Btw, Edrian had the last pick in almost every round during the 'choosing' meeting. Hats off to him.

wat about mfc old player award....nope, on second thought, cannot ler, coz andy will win that too :P

hhmm, maybe we can set a rule that no one can win more than one award per season, then we can give out more awards and everyone can be a winner....ahem, ahem...just like our church recent badminton tournament =D hahahahahahah

Let's hear the candidates for Most Lawaks Award of the Season....I hear the LLF-RM match has loads of candidates! Surely it is a good fight for the award.

11:23 PM

Blogger JTan said...

Well if you wanna jst limit it to 1 award per season, then it won't be so fair if a person really put in a lot of effort in becoming a very consistent player and topscorer.. I think, to be fair, let the votes decide... FIFA certainly don't limit their awards to 1 per player..

well done, MCH, you truly deserved the title for we've seen how hard you guys were battling out there.

i was so worried that andy might faint coz when he came out from the both games, his face was all red, and he was breathing heavily. that just shows the dedication and commitment.

flyboy too, who played on sportingly despite being kicked upon, elbowed, pushed and not to forget, shot with da ball :)

the rest of the team deserved praises too like feiloong, kah aun, kenny, honyau....it's a team game and you guys are a great team.

For the LLF-RM game, the funniest was Mervin's own goal la. NO doubt about that.

I think this year Andy would be my vote for MVP. Just ask Sirn Loong how much easier his job was by having Andy there. Except for the game against JC where he was abit missing. hehe

Ah , yes , i remember now, it's my delicate dribbling skills that brought me to the left flank just inside the "D", surprised myself (usually my rt leg is more accurate in passes) but using my delicate superb innate passing skills , i made the cross with my left foot , intending for either jeremy or oon to square it home. But too bad ..it was mr mervin at the end of it .Well this kinda accurate ,fast , curling, pin point passes are very difficult to defend actually .The problem was that the keeper couldn't do much too . The one with samuel was almost identical . Hence , naturally , i was the cause of the whole fiasco .. GOMEN NASAI

pity "kah aun".. got registered in the league for the wrong name... and til now, still being called the wrong name... even the manager didnt quite got his name right for the first 2 weeks! hhahahaha, anyway his REAL name is kean hoi... pity him la... everytime kah aun kah aun.... some more when call kah aun... people go...

"eh, where's tat boy... wat...kah...kah aun or something"

i tink he played well too being his first season in the league...

anyway, samuel thye was late for his first match... and RM had to start the match with one man less... did any of u noticed samuel was still warming up and doing some stretching in court when the game is just about going to end... hahaha

5:44 PM

Blogger Administrator said...

i'm curious, how did the name kah aun came about then ???

if kah aun is not kah aun as registered but is actually kean hoi...THAT MEANT MCH PLAYED WITH AN ILLEGALLY REGISTERED PLAYER!

Hitherto, they had gained unfair advantage over their opponents (think of the sheffield utd lawsuit against west ham)

hhhhmm, this means any games that kah aun/kean hoi played in shall be deemed invalid and the opposing team shall be given a walkover...

...which means, LLf is champ...hooray, hooray!!!

5:56 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

but the reigstration mistake was due to the chicken scratch from the organizer's handwriting.... hahhaa

i saw his name being registered on the paper correctly... but the organizer had a hard time writing it down...and so... maybe during the 'choosing' meeting, he cant read his own hand writing and assumed that it is kah aun...

6:47 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ah, so the organizer is also involved in the illegally registered player!

So LLF is also disqualified. And by the reversal of results...means the bottom team finish first.

The champions are...RM? O.o
