Season's Finale

Sell-Si FC’s Champion!!!

4 teams went in to the final match with hopes and chances of winning this season, some more equal than others.

The crowd favourites, MCU, failed to capitalize on their lead when they only managed to get only 3 points from 2 matches.

Meanwhile, the second and third place teams, Shiock and FP, self-destructed when they posted their worst match day performance on the most crucial time. Both teams lost all their matches on the last day.

In the end, it was left to the dark horse of the season, SS, who did not hesitate to take the chances that were presented to them on a gold platter. They defeated their close rival FP in their first do-or-die match of the day 3-1. Playing the final game of the season, SS knew that they had to win by a margin of 4 clear goals against the strong Shiockers to win the league.

In the nail-biting finale, SS fought like lions while the Shiock team was reduced to stunned spectators as SS steamrolled them 6-1; much to MCU disappointment.

This result meant that SS has captured the league title with 19 points, edging MCU who also has 19 points by goal difference of 1 goal.

The highlights of the matches are as follows :-

Match 25 : MCU vs Shiock (2-1)
MCU sounded their intent from the kick-off whistle when Sam unleashed a shot that was parried away by the keeper. Shiock responded immediately with Oon but his shot was blocked too. MCU edged ahead when super-keeper Samshen hit one of his trademark long ball into the opposing penalty box, which Daniel gleefully glanced into goal. Daniel struck again to give MCU a spirit lifting 2 goal lead. Shiock threw their whole arsenal at MCU but the defense led by Victor held firm. Shiock pulled a goal back when an innocuous looking shot slipped thru Samshen’s fingers. That goal encouraged Shiock to attack harder but MCU held on for an important win.

Match 26 : SA vs RM (2-3)
In this 5-6 placing match, David scored first for RM when he pounced on a rebound to shoot past the sprawled keeper. Suresh added another for RM before Lionel pulled one back to SA. SA equalized against the run of play when Ryan blasted a freekick thru RM’s porous wall. However, their joy was short lived as David put RM ahead again when he stole in unmarked and the score remained till end. With this win, RM clinched the 5th placing while SA had to contend with 6th placing.

Match 27 : SS vs FP (3-1)
It’s a do-or-die for both as neither can afford to drop any points if they want to win the league. Andy gave FP an encouraging start when he drilled in a low shot past the hapless keeper. FP continued to play a compact game and SS were forced to shoot from far as they can’t seemed to get past the defence. Lady luck smiled on SS when Shawn’s kick deflected off Andy’s shoulder and flew past the stranded keeper for the equalizing goal. That goal seemed to deflate FP and as SS continued to chip away at FP’s great wall, at last FP cracked not once but twice as Jeshua scored two more goals from either flank to give SS a deserving win. With this loss, FP’s chance at the title is shot while SS has strengthened their case for the league.

Match 28 : MCU vs RM (1-3)
At the current standing, MCU just needed a point from this match to win the league. It was not meant to be though as RM were in a merciless mood after their trouncing last week. Samuel Chin scored a rare goal for MCU to give them an early but deceptive lead as RM hit back with 2 goals from David. The first was a glancing header and the second came when Samshen let a harmless shot slipped thru his fingers for the second time today. Rattled MCU tried to hold on but RM was not letting up on the attacks and got the match’s last goal when Suresh hit a pile-driver. With this loss, MCU’s chance of winning the title will have to depend on the outcome of the final game between SS and Shiock.

Match 29 : SA vs FP (3-4)
With their chance gone, the best that FP can hope for is a second placing. With their 6th placing confirmed, SA is playing for nothing but pride. SA shocked FP with 2 early goals before FP fought back to equalize. Both sides scored again to tie at 3-3 before Ryan capitalized on a defensive mistake to blast the ball past the hapless keeper. FP dug in deep to find another equalizer but without their ace striker around, their dominance did not translate to goal. While SA notched only their second win of the season, today’s double defeat for FP meant they ends their campaign on 4th placing.

Match 30 : SS vs Shiock (6-1)
In this final match of the season, Shiock got to be the kingmaker as the outcome of this will decide whether SS or MCU will get the title. SS needs to beat Shiock by 4 clear goals in order to win. With Shiock’s reputation as a team which is very strong defensively, most have expected SS to have an almost impossible task. However, impossible is nothing to SS in this match. Although they trailed to an early Shiock’s goal, SS played like rabid dogs high on ice as they keep barking and biting at Shiock. They got their equalizer when Samuel capitalized on a rebound to shoot home. Energized, they came again and Shawn scored from a corner. Shiock’s defence suddenly seemed as watertight as a piece of paper and SS keep going from strength to strength and added 3 more goals from Shawn (2) and Samuel. At the current scoreline, SS know they’ve done enough but if Shiock retaliated with any more goals, they’ll be out. With that knowledge, SS didn’t let up and got a deserving final goal thru Jeshua. As they walked off the court in jubilation, Shiock were left wondering what had hit them and MCU stunned at the match outcome.

Congratulations to all the teams for a fantastic season of thrills, spills, drama kings and queens, controversies and ecstasies.

i heard that kokwai was planning to show up for dinner last nite, but he was 'invited' by some ACA officers for 'teh tarik' as he was about to get into his car. he has not been seen since.

is it true?

careful jeremy, you might be next. i heard that they saw you getting chummy with shawn last nite and noted your stray shootings at the final match.

i think that's why our futsal master is planning to lie low in thailand for the next few weeks, coz' thailand don't have extradiction arrangement with malaysia mah.

i heard phillipines is not bad, eh, jeremy. worth thinking, for your own sake....

Anyway , All credit to shawns team ...they played exceptionally well and especially for the last game ,they showed more hunger to win . Our defense just crumbled without Kok Wai . It just shows how good Kok wai is in defense .
For RM , they could have been a major force too but a little too late ,especially when Suresh was absent , the team didn't really play as well .
Severeah ...well what can i say .....very very good players that didn't gel in? that didn't play to their fullest potential ?
MCH is the suprise of the season alright . For me it's called ''TIT
NGAN KEANG " . We all speculated that they would have been whipping boys .. WOW,instead the manager unearth a few gems in their buying .Fantastic insight man . Well done Victor !!
Funny pasir ...hehehe never thought they would have been a threat .. heheh But lawrence came out good !!
Well we just need to wait fo next season now .
Matthew will b back by then for grabs ? hehe

i predicted shawn, suresh n kok wai teams favourties to win this season n did mentioned victor team is another team i like the way they played. but victor team showed much more than i expected, they stood tall till the end end despites being edged out by a goal margin!!!!
as a spectator i come and watch week in and week out. in soccer u can never predict the potential favourites for the title at pre season before the competition starts.
one have to watch till you seen all of the teams played and in world cup you just cant predict even in the early rounds of the world cup finals. favourites have been knocked out in early rounds as history repeat itself again and again.
as it came to ending, ii became clear that it was 3 way fights for the titles, it could have been any of these 3 teams to become the champion. mcu learnt this season, and should take this as a good experience of " so near and yet so far".
its a worthwhile experience gained for the team and especially for the manager victor. for shiock, it was an experience also as they tried to retain the title they won last season. they will definitely have added rich values in experience of "its much more difficult to retain the title than to win it"
ask ferguson of mu if any of you are not so sure bout it then.

next season comes. shawn, 1st of all congrats for winning the title, but its will be a real test for your team n ur credibility as manager as to whether your team able to retain the title or at least finished higher than shiock who finished 3rd this season and they were leading the table topping at one stage!!!
kok wai did a wonderful job as the manager for shoick, with new faces in the team, they fought hard and still finished 3rd placing.
the coming season if there are more new and quality players added for the new season, then shawn , beware!, every one loves to beat the champion!!!! hahaha!!!
you won this season, but yoo also have immediately added much more pressure onto you team come next season!!!! hahahha!!! to all the team managers . comes next season, if there no reason you could find that can motivate you players, then motivate em, by, beating the champ!!!!
last night, when we saw the instant replayed backwards of you shawn dribbling with the ball with the opponent alongside following you, they say you belot, uncle say looks like you were doin the tango waltz with ur opponent more!!!
you do have potential in dancing the waltz shawn!!! but dont dance with a male la!!! dance your waltz with a female, otherwise ppl thinking something wrongs with you personality!!! (jokes)

lastly well done to all

The success of champions does not come from one or two people.. it comes from the collective teamwork of all in the team. The success of SS is actually from every individual in the team. We all know our own role and our position, we sticked by it, played a beautiful and yet simple game but with the fire and the will to achieve our 4 goal target we played as one.

5 bodies, 5 pairs of legs and one mind. Now that is success. That is team spirit. That is the ultimate teamwork.

Guys as much as you have seen Jeshua, Samuel and Me doing most of the scoring. Like Uncle Peter said, the last game all came down to maturity. And the maturity mostly came from Melvyn,Eugene and Douglas.
To be honest, I will tell you that every single strategy; from the formation of the team, every attack play to every defence play was orchestrated by Melvyn. I am proud to say that we made probably the best buys of the season during transfer window. I had almost given up after we conceded the first goal, but he kept pushing and motivating us even till the last minute of the game. Many of you might turn to Matthew as probably first choice when the new season starts in August but let me tell you that after playing just 4 games with Melvyn, he would be my MVP anytime. You will never know how much he contributes till the day you have him on your side, he was indeed the missing piece in my team, and we all thought I needed a defender, LoL.He deserved the MoTM award for the last game.

And then there is Eugene, many people might have blamed him for many of the goals conceded by our team earlier in the season but just like Napolean's theory proves that one should never peak too early as it will be downhill from then onwards. I have to admit Eugene really did peak at the right time especially in the last 2 games. He rosed up to the occasion when we needed him the most. And many of you, might have not realised but he was carrying quite a painful injury but he pushed through and forced himself to play the last game. Many of the goals in the first half were conceded because of the lack of communication between the defence and the keeper. Many dont realise that, sometimes its easier to just blame the keeper, not the outfield player who didnt mark his man, or didnt block the initial shot that shouldnt have been given the chance to be taken in the first place but then to see Eugene and Melvyn combine to form a pretty good understanding, was a very proud moment for me as a manager. And bravo to Eugene for getting his first clean sheet against the Suresh-less Madreed but oh well, we would happily accept any confidence-boosting match as motivation, haha. Its a shame that this would be Eugene's first and last season with us but im sure this would be a memory he would never forget. So all the best to you Eugene and May God Bless you and your family and the days ahead of your lives. Do pay us a visit when ur back from US.

Then comes the Australian-Steamroller as what i call him. I owe Douglas an apology as not only have i been hard on him throughout the season but i have been playing him in a position that is not his most effective. In the last game we decided to change things a little and decided to play him as Samuel's substitute as he had the physical presence that Samuel was lacking and i have to admit he came so close to scoring his first goal.If that match was to last a little longer, Im very sure he would have got his goal. Im very proud of him as a player and a person and although i was barking at him constantly like a *****, he still took it as a man and improved week after week. I know how much this trophy means to him and i could see how happy he was and Im really happy for him too especially that he got to bring his wife to the dinner and make her proud of him as well.

And if you thought i was a ***** to Douglas, you dont wanna know what i was to Samuel Tai. This guy came to every pre-season match week in week out just to prove me wrong on my initial perception about him on how he misses open goals on a pretty regular basis. Well just look at the player he turned out to be. On the week before poling sessions began, he came up to me and said 'shawn, if you choose me i promise to score you the goals and play well,i promise'. So when it came to poling session, i decided to put my trust in this kid(not like i had many other choices, haha) and though i have to admit that i was sceptical in the begining, I am proud to say he stuck to his word. Every week he did exactly what i told him to do,literally, word for word. Asked him to run like a dog, he did, asked him to pressure defenders for the whole game and he would still do it. A 17 year old kid in a 12 year old body, but a heart blazing with passion, this is my biggest improvement of the year. From the person he once was, to the player he has matured into is quite a remarkable achievement given this short spell of time. This win meant alot to this kid as well, you could see it in his eyes that he was still in shock and was almostdown to tears after the final whistle but he held it in just like a man. Samuel, i hope you will take this as a motivation to better youself in the future. You are still young and can develope into a deadly player with the right training. The only reason why i chose Samuel was because i saw the player that he could be in the future, i knew i was going to be hard and tough on him right from the beginning and im glad that he, like Douglas took it like a man and instead of giving up, kept persevering week in week out.

Not forgetting Raymond, I know how much you almost cancelled your wedding just to be with us, haha, joking. Well i do know your legs were itching to play but well i guess Wifey trumps Futsal eh?HEHEHE, You definitely need her TLC when u go home after a very painful futsal injury. Couldnt have done it without Raymond. Very much a complete player like Melvyn. Tall,Agile,He could shift from a defensive player to an attacking player at will whenever he wants to. Such a big advantage for us in the beginning of the season.Such a shame we never had a chance to play our full squad in a game.

This win for us would not be complete if it wasnt for Lionel,he won us our first game of the season with his brace which also won him the MoTM award. Henry let me know if there is a possibility of making another trophy for Lionel, i dont mind paying. He deserves it as much as everyone of us.And for him to go over to SA and score what was my goal of the season, hats off to you Lionel.

As for a Jeshua, i think he would forgive me if i didnt comment about him. My actions spoke louder than my words will ever do, He was my first pick, enuf said. We all know how good he is. I am quite glad to have formed a good partnership with him. With match-winning performance's against Shioke's first game though carrying a severe ligament injury and FP's second game is just priceless.

Thank You Sell-'Si' FC, Organizers and everyone else involved. God Bless You All

Like Victor and Kevin, this is also my debutant as a manager, although i very much wanted to win the cup, at times i do admit i gave up, but one thing that i didnt stray away from was my biggest goal which was to mould the few players in my team and turn them into better players, esp Samuel Tai, Douglas, and Leonard. i have to say even if i didnt win the cup, i would have still achived my main goal for this season as these 3 players have shown great improvement and maturity in their games. I challenge every player in the coming season, in a futsal league like this, there are no losers but the winner are those who know that they are a better player than what they used to be, so aim for that as well.

a manager may have the ability to discover or tab a potential un tab talent of a player.and to have the ability to transform and convert a player style of play and position of play, but not all managers have it, some are good motivators, some are good in strategies n tactical plays and so on so forth.
Overall after having said all these, one can only tab a talent, discover one, transform and shape up one, is only when he, the manager or coach, have the talents or abilities to, and that also after having been involved in soccer for many years as players or as manager or both of it.
at the young age , everyone of you are still learning bout the game, its not finished yet, all of you, no matter how good, everyone of you are still learning to play the game.
even if any of you went on to play for pro clubs, states and even at national level, you are still learning the game. club level, states level and national levels are all totally different from each other.
alex ferguson, was an aberdeen club player in scotland league, but its much later he excel in manager post and everyone knows who he is now.
he couldnt do it at young age cos he was still learning the game, so is wenger and others.

at these age, all of you guys, i honestly said, everyone of you are still learning the game, some are supposed to be learning to play at another level, if they dont know yet as to why they suddenly find emselves stagnant or don't seems to improve much further.

there's still so much to learn how to play the "beautiful game" pele called it. until you experienced having had played "beautiful game" in soccer, then you only have you breathed the soul of the "beautiful game'
you dont have to be a world class player or star player in order to play the "beautiful game'
pele made it easy n simple for all and to all over the world, from cities to jungles, that any can play it " beautiful game"

its simple but there's a hidden treasure in it, "beautiful game" until one discovered it, then he will know what it means by "beautiful game" which pele and im trying to say here.
it has nothing to do with glory fame, if the jungle habitants can play and discovered the secret of the "beautiful game, then im not talking rubbish here and pele is not just making it up.

not every players makes good managers as history shown as well, bryan robson, x mu capt, n england capt, he dont make good manager, a world class player he was in his playing days, but he's struggling as a manager.
moyes, nothing much to compared to robson in his playing days, but he doin a great job at everton with limited resources esp in finance.
its either you have it or you dont have it.
until then everyone of you guys should go on and enjoy playing and learn the game more.
i encourage all of you to learn and carry on playing the game.
i would say to each and everyone of you guys....
THERE'S SO MUCH TO PLAY FOR AND THERE'S SO MUCH TO PLAY IN THE GAME
"
soccer was my joy my happiness and love of my life and it kept me alive till now.
i played soccer till i dont want the game to stop even its dark night time. i cried and said " please dont stop the game, dont stop playing the game"
yes i was in such deep love with the game.
i walked back so slowly, never wanting to go back home. cos i found joy, happiness, laughters n love in the game, that world could'nt give in human nature.
i was in my early teens then.
well freddy mercury of queen sang a song called " love of my life"

i guessed everyone of you know who is the love of my life besides my kids.
females? very very sorry, kamu semua belakang beratul ya.

my eyes are quite weary n dimmed now as i aged alot, i cant see clear as good as my young days and u guys can see by the mistakes i made here in typing this message. come january next year i be 52yrs old, if im still around!!
yestrday, there were only 8 of us tha tcame to play (sunday),
it was very tiring for the 8 of us, but we carried on playing the whole 2 hrs!!!
i hope that many of you will turn up come sundays, wheth its just formal and competiton as well.
practice makes perfect,

see you young guys around soon.
