FINAL WEEK MATCHES @ 20.8.06

After 2 gruelling months of weekly matches and daily spats, Season 2 is drawing to an exciting finale.

The contenders for the league title is down to 2 teams, Real Madreed and AC Melon. However, they are not squaring off against each other in the final round of games but the fate of the league title rests on two other teams, Whereda Breadman and Celpigs.

Real Madreed just need to win their match against Whereda Breadman to amass an unassailable lead over AC Melon. Judging by the pre-match talk however, Madreed can't forget about charity from Breadman, who had a grudge to settle with Madreed.

As Madreed will play earlier, AC Melon will know whether they're gonna be playing for the league title or runners-up medals. The possible outcomes are these :

1. AC Melon win and Madreed lose - Melon crown champions again.

2. AC Melon win by 4 goals and Madreed draw - Melon crown champions.

3. AC Melon win and Madreed win - Madreed crown champions, Melon runners-up.

Celpigs have been confirmed at 5th place and have nothing to play for except pride. They could turn out to be the party spoilers to Melon, should they decide to turn it on at last.

Rarelyreal's league chances went six feet under after their double defeat. The shocking results last week left Real Madreed in the the driving seat. However, they will need to deliver the goods against Rotiman this Sunday, which is by no means an easy task after Rotiman's sterling display againt Rarelyreal.

AC Melon still have a fighting chance to grab the title if they win their last game against the Pigs AND Madreed loses their.

Should Madreed draw against Rotiman, AC Melon can still win the league if they can better Madreed's goal difference by beating the Pigs by 4 goals or more.

Whatever happens this week, Breadman and Celpigs are confirmed at 4th and 5th place respectively.

The Duckies and the Piggies are out of contention. Rotiman is also out but holds the key to determining the champion, which will between the Melons and the Banana-men.

Week 9 (13.08.06) Match 3

Rarelyreal 0 - Whereda Breadman 3

The Breadman Delivers

(in conjuction with the Love Our National Language Week in some obscure school in some ulu kampung, the following match review will be done in Bahasa Malaysia)

Permain terbaik perlawanan : Jeshua (Breadman)

Penjaring goal :
Jeshua (Breadman) - 2 goals
Shawn (Breadman) - 1 goal

Week 9 (13.08.06) Match 2

Celpigs 1 - Real Madreed 3

Pigs Lose Again

Celpigs gave a better performance this time round by not conceding any early goals. In fact, sterling perfomances by the Pigs defence gave them a glimmer of hope with the score at half-time 0-0.

Second half was quite the same, with Madreed attacking and the Pigs repelling the attacks with gusto. Things changed, however, when Andy let loose a cannon ball past the hapless keeper for the first goal of the match.

That goal seemed to kill off the Pigs' spirit as Suresh and Andy added another 2 goals for Madreed with relative ease. The Pigs managed to score a consolation goal when Madreed's manager-cum-player absent-mindedly blocked a shot in the D. The referee did not hesitate to award a penalty, which Chi Siang ably slotted in.

Man-of-da-match : Andy (Madreed)

Goal scorers :-
Andy (Madreed) - 2 goals
suresh (Madreed) - 1 goal

Chi Siang (Pigs) - 1 goal (penalty)

Week 9 (13.08.06) Match 1

Rarelyreal 2 - AC Melon 6

Rarelyreal Hammered !

The curse of the combo week strikes again as Rarelyreal's title hopes took an irrecoverable strike. R.real took the field for the first match against AC Melon without their dynamic captain Ryan a.k.a Ducky and their inspiration midfielder Jong Chiueh.

However, it was R.real who started aggresively and looked the better side, as Chofatt hit the post and had another shot missed the goal only by mere inches. Melon looked slightly unsettled but were fortunate to take the lead thru Samuel a.k.a. Super Sam, who hit the ball sweetly past the despairing keeper's dive. R.real hit back fiercely with two goals from Chofatt to give R.real the lead into half-time.

The two goals rattled Melon as they changed side for the second half but James restored order to their game with a ferocious shot from kick off, sending the ball past a sea of legs and giving the keeper no chance.

As Melon settled into the match, both sides traded blows evenly until R.real keeper fumbled a shot from Oon to let it rolled into goal. The goal seemed to deflate R.real as Melon ran riot around their tired opponents, with Super Sam scoring 2 more goals to complete his hat-trick and another from Oon.

Man-of-da-match : Samuel (Melon)

Goal scorers :-
Samuel (Melon) - 3 goals
James (Melon) - 1 goal
Oon (Melon) - 2 goals

Chofatt (R.real) - 2 goals

Matches this week @ 13.08.06

Down to the wire

Rare defeats by Real Madreed have thrown the race wide open. Rarelyreal seems to have the slight advantage, having played a game less.

Can Rarelyreal make their advantage counts, or will they self-destruct like Madreed last week? Not unlike Madreed, they'll have to play two matches this week; which is no easy task as no team has ever won their two matches on combo week.

Be there to watch history in the making this week as the title race hots up.

It's gonna be down to the wire, this one.

Upcoming matches this week :-

Match 1 (4.10 pm) : Rarelyreal (2) vs AC Melon (3)

Commentary :-

Real Madreed's double defeats on Week 8 have thrown the title race wide opened. Though Madreed is still perched at the summit, Rarelyreal has the extra advantage having played a game less.

Combo day (2 matches, 1 day) has never been kind to the teams playing it since the league started; the worst being Madreed's double defeat. The most points ever taken from combo day is only 4 points (1 win, 1 draw).

The coming week will be Rarelyreal's turn and it will interesting to see how well they fare after Madreed's title challenge took a great knock on their combo day.

Week 8 (06.08.06) Match 3

AC Melon 3 - Real Madreed 1

Tired Madreed Outplayed

Melon avenged their defeat to Madreed 2 weeks ago by thumping them 3 - 1 in a match that Madreed would rather play on another day. Oon started the Melon with a fine goal inside 2 minutes, as the Melon took advantage of Madreed's tiredness, having played an intense game earlier.

Madreed seemed unable to reply to the Melons' goal as Melon continued having the lion share of possesion and shots at goal. James increased Melons' lead with a fine strike from his own half to end the first half at 2 - 0.

Second half saw the energy level of the game dipped as Melon seemed content with their lead, passing the ball leisurely in their own half. Tired perhaps, but Madreed didn't look too eager either to fight for the ball back.

Oon added another to make the score 3- 0 while a tactical indiscretion by Melons' keeper saw Madreed pulled a goal back through Kenny. That goal, however, failed to spark any fight back in Madreed's tired bodies as Melons cruised to one of their most comfortable victory to date.

Man-of-da-match : James (Melons)

Goal Scorers :
Oon (Melons) - 2 goals
James (Melons) - 1 goal

Kenny (Madreed) - 1 goal

Week 8 (06.08.06) Match 2

Whereda Breadman 3 - Celpigs 3

Almost A Win

The match was delayed for about 20 minutes as demented Pigs supporters pelted the Breadmen's team bus with pigs' manure. Breadman's own set of fanatic supporters, the 'ultras', responded by throwing fermented breads but to no avail, as the Pigs gobbled them up happily.

As one can only s**t so much, the Pigs ran out of ammo and quick thinking by the organizers resolved the situation to allow the match to proceed without any further hindrance, except for some disturbing gas emission by the Pigs (probably caused by the fermented breads).

The Pigs started the match optimistically (as usual) but succumbed to a quick strike by JianYi to trail the Breadmen (as usual). Shawn added another for Breadman after the Pigs messed up their corner kick. While trying to pass to his own team-mate, one of the Pigs miskicked the ball half-field up to the predatory Shawn, who only had the keeper to beat.

Undaunted, the Pigs fought back gamely. In their exuberance, Chisiang received a yellow card caution for charging. Kevin Lee managed to score a goal before halftime to make the score 2 -1 to the Breadmen.

Pigs started as the better side in the second half to steal the lead from the shell-shocked Breadmen. Honyau scored his first goal of the day after robbing the ball from a defender. He followed up with another goal, this time from a corner, to give the Pigs a 3 -2 lead.

All hopes of a first win for the Pigs were extinguished however when Breadmen produced another last minute goal through Jeshua for their fourth draw of the season.

Man-of-da-match : Kevin Lee (Celpigs)

Goal Scorers :
JianYi (Breadman) - 1 goal
Shawn (Breadman) - 1 goal
Jeshua (Breadman) - 1 goal

Kevin Lee (Celpigs) - 1 goal
Hon Yau (Celpigs) - 2 goals

Week 8 (06.08.06) Match 1

Real Madreed 5 - Rarelyreal 6

Really Real - Madreed Beaten At Last

Madreed, unbeaten since the start of the season, at last crumbled to a blood-thirsty R.Real. R.Real started the match ferociously, attacking Madreed's goal right from kick-off. Sensing blood, like rabid wild dogs, they pounced mercilessly at an off-form Madreed. Chofatt started to the bloodbath with a goal in the 2nd minute, after a shot from Jong Chiueh was blocked and the ball bounced nicely for Chofatt to hammer in.

Daniel produced some sublime skill to sidestep a defender and scored R.Reals second, within a minute of restart as Madreed looked totally lost. Out of the blue, Madreed pullled one back from a well taken corner kick, scored by Andy.

Any thoughts of a comeback was shelved however after as R.Real ran riot with goals coming from Raymond, Jong Chiueh and Lawrence, giving R.Real a 5-1 lead. Perhaps as a sign of desperation or frustration, Madreed's keeper unleashed an optimistic shot from his own area which fooled R.Real keeper and slammed into goal.

Half-time score was 5 -2 and the second half saw Madreed almost producing the comeback of the year when they hit 3 goals, courtesy of some fine skills coupled with some lackasaidal defending. Andy, SamShan and Edrian all scored for Madreed to level the score to 5-5, setting up a very tense finale.

The match could have swung either way but a long pass from Jong Chuieh and superb control and composure from Daniel saw R.Real handing Madreed their first loss of the season.

Man-of-da-match : Raymond (R.Real)

Goal Scorers :-
Chofatt (R.Real) - 1 goal
Daniel (R.Real) - 2 goals
Raymond (R.Real) - 1 goal
Jong Chiueh (R.Real) 1 -goal
Lawrence (R.Real) - 1 goal

Andy (Madreed) - 2 goals
Christopher (Madreed) - 1 goal
Samshan (Madreed) - 1 goal
Edrian (Madreed) - 1 goal
