Week 7 (30.07.06) Match 3

AC Melon 2 - Whereda Breadman 2

Melons Held, Again

The Melons desperately wanted to win this match to keep their title hopes alive while the Breadmen wanted to avoid losing for a 3rd consecutive game.

Melons started off perfectly with Oon scoring twice to sink the Breadmen's heart. Plays got a bit bogged down after the early goals with both sides playing cancelling out each other. First half score Melon up 2 - 0.

Plays remained sluggish in the second half and Melon seemed to be coasting to another win but disaster struck about 3 minutes from the end when Jian YI pulled a goal back for the Breadmen.
The goal seemed to rejuvenate the Breadmen and they began to attack furiously. Rattled and shaken from their prematured victory celebration, Melon tried to keep the Breadmen at bay but a lucky bounce saw Jian Yi scoring the equalising goal to deny Melons the desperately needed 3 points.

Man-of-da-match : Jian Yi (Whereda Breadman)

Goal Scorers :-
Oon (Melons) - 2 goals

Jian Yi (WB) - 2 goals

Week 7 (30.07.06) Match 2

Celpigs 0 - Rarelyreal 3

Pigs Desperately Seeking Win

As the season draws to a close with only 3 weeks left, the Pigs are made to wait longer for their first win. R.Real signalled their intention with an early goal from ChoFatt, who managed to sidestepped Pigs' Kevin Lee to release a thunderous low that shot past the hapless keeper.

Pigs tried gamely to equalise but no goals were forthcoming. Lawrence added another for R.Real but were yellow carded later for charging and elbowing the Pigs' keeper.

First half ended frustratingly for the Pigs being 2 goals down. The action resumed thick and fast in the second half with Aaron pulling off saves after saves to keep his Pigs in contention. With his forwards firing blanks, his only hope is to keep the scoreline respectable.

A great pass from Jong Chiueh gave Lawrence a simple tap in from the top of the penalty area for R.real 3rd and last goal of the day.

Man-of-da-match : Raymond (R.Real)

Goal Scorers :-
ChoFatt (R.Real) - 1 goal

Lawrence (R.Real) - 2 goals

Week 7 (30.07.06) Match 1

Real Madreed 4 - Whereda Breadman 1

Unrelentless

Real Madreed continued their unrelenting charge towards the title with a 4 - 1 demolition of Whereda Breadman. The match started furiously with both sides trading shots but no goals were to come out of it. Though the Breadmen have the more possesion, they just couldn't string enough passes to break down Madreed's defence. Disaster struck when Madreed's Suresh scored with virtually the last kick in the first half.

The goal seemed to have deflated the Breadmen as Madreed began to grow in confidence and started to control the game. Slack defending by them enabled Suresh to score 2 more goals, both from corner kicks. Breadman's Jian Yi pulled one back to but tried as they could, the Breadmen couldn't mount a comeback. Gilbert added another for Madreed in the dying seconds to complete the romp.

The gloss of getting his first hat-trick of the season for Suresh is taken off when he received his second yellow card the season, thus suspendeding him from the next game.

Man-of-da-match : Andy (Real Madreed)

Goal Scorers :
Suresh (Madreed) - 3 goals

Gilbert (Madreed) - 1 goal

Jian Yi (W.Breadman) - 1 goal

Week 6 (23.07.06) Match 3

AC Melon 0 - Real Madreed 2

Madreed Continues Unbeaten Run

In this battle between the defending and the aspiring champions, Real Madreed exploited Melon's fatigue and tiredness to chalk up another win in their quest for the first trophy.

Melon, having played a gruelling match earlier, looked tired and fatigue, were stunned when Madreed scored from kick-off. Melon's Samuel failed to block Edrian's blistering shot which went past the stranded keeper, who was blind-sided by all the players in front of him.

After the initial goal, Melon were forced to abandon their usual patient and passing game to press for the levelling goal. Playing without their defensive rock, James, Melon looked fragile at the back and their keeper was constantly tested.

Madreed looked very solid with the evergreen Andy pulling the strings for them, negating Melon's attack and spraying passes beautifully to his team-mates.

First half ended 1-0 to Madreed and Melon continued to press harder for a goal but to no avail.
Madreed scored another after some fortuitous bounce of the ball to end the game 2-0 winner.

Man-of-da-match : Christopher (Madreed)

Goal Scorers :-

Edrian (Madreed) - 1 Goal

Gilbert (Madreed) - 1 Goal

Week 6 (23.07.06) Match 2

Rarelyreal 5 - Whereda Breadman 1

From Glory To Gory

Breadman entered the match feeling ecstatic after trouncing the Pigs 5-1 in their last match. However, nothing prepared them for the phenomenon called Jong Chiueh, who almost single-handedly tore the Breadmen to shred.

The bloodbath started very early with Jong Chiueh scoring the opening goal with an stoppable shot. Shortly after, he rifled in another to take R.real two-up into half-time.

Shell shocked, the Breadmen seemed lost at sea in the second half as R.real continue to control the game. Cho Fatt got lucky when his harmless looking shot slipped out of Breadmen's new keeper's grip and rolled into goal.

R.real completed the rout with Jong Chiueh scoring another to complete his hat-trick and Cho Fatt scoring a proper goal this time around. Breadmen's Shawn pulled a goal back for this team but it was a dream too far, a nightmare too cruel.

R.real seemed to have the Breadmen all figured out with this double as their first encounter ended with R.Real winning 6-3.

Man-of-da-match : Jong Chiueh (Rarelyreal)

Goal Scorers :-
Jong Chiueh (R.real) - 3 goals

Cho Fatt (R.real) - 2 goals

Shawn (Breadman) - 1 goal

Week 6 (23.07.06) Match 1

AC Melon 4 - Celpigs 2

Thriller Gila!

Both teams fielded their new acquisitions as starters in the line-up. The match got off to a super fast tempo with Melon's new striker extraordinaire, Oon, scored after some neat exchanges.
Melon' s stalwart, Henry, added another to make the halftime score 2-0 to Melon.

Second half saw the resurgent Pigs mounting a fanstastic come back, putting Melon's defence under constant pressure. A reckless sliding tackle from behind by Samuel saw gave the Pigs their first penalty of the match. However, nothing was to come out of it as Hon Yau skied the ball after being outwitted by Melon's keeper.

Alwin made amends for the Pigs later with a supeb volley from a corner to give them only their 3rd goal of the campaign but Oon replied immediately with another goal to keep Melon's lead intact.

Pigs' Kok Wai deliciously chipped the ball to fool Melon's keeper to make the score 3-2 but Oon struck again to keep Melon's lead unchanged. Undaunted, Pigs continued pounding Melon's defence and forced another penalty when the ball struck James' hand.

Chi Siang was the penalty taker this time but again, put off by the keeper's superb positioning, sent the ball to heaven and the condemned the Pigs to another hellish defeat.

Man-of-da-match : Onn (Melon)

Goal scorers :-
Oon (Melon) - 3 Goals

Henry (Melon) - 1 Goal

Alwin (Pigs) - 1 Goal

Kok Wai (Pigs) - 1 Goal

Mid Season Review

How time flies!

We've reached the mid-season point of the league. Full season consists of 12 games to be played by all teams, with each team having to meet each other 3 times on a home, away and neutral ground basis.

Real Madreed have the distinction of being the only unbeaten team after 6 games played and are currently leading the pack with 12 points. Packed with good players and having strong depths in reserves, Madreed have threaten to run away with the title but draws against the strong contenders is keeping the championship race an open contest.

AC Melon started nervously with a rare defeat in the hands of Breadman in their very first game. Fortunately, they recovered to remain unbeaten since then and have been shadowing Madreed and matching them point for point. Having stabilized the team performance, the manager will look forward to next half of the season to challenge for an unprecented back-to-back league title.

Whereda Breadman is struggling to find consistency in their game, having posted 2 each of wins, draws and losses. The manager is still waiting for his team to gel and to get consistent resutls. After suffering two losses in a row, the manager seemed to have steer his team back to winning ways last week and hopefully, the winning ways will continue.

Rarelyreal is not unlike Breadman; struggling for consistency. While they have no problem scoring and creating goals (12 goals scored), they do have a very generous backline, having conceded 13 goals! The manager is expected to find ways to plug his porous backline in the upcoming transfer season.

Celpigs United, this season debutants, is still struggling to find its feet after suffering 4 losses while managing to draw the other 2 games. The team looked strong defensively, having conceded only 10 goals; which is better than Breadman's and Rarelyreal. However, lack of firepower upfront proved to be their achilles heel as they scored a measly 2 goals. As they say in football, best defense is offense!

Time to share your thoughts, player and managers!

Week 5 (9.07.06) Match 3

Real Madreed 0 - Celpigs 0

Madreed Held

With AC Melon and Rarelyreal drawing their ealier game, Madreed had the glorious chance to pull 5 points ahead with a win. However, they counted their chickens too early and were gamely shocked by the resistance put up by the Pigs.

The Pigs, having been routed 5-1 in an earlier match, stepped up their game and together with Madreed, served up an exciting match of attacking futsal, sans the goals.

Both sides have to chance to score but while Pigs were hampered by wayward shootings by their forwards, Madreed were utterly frustrated by superb goalkeeping by Pigs' Aaron.

Man-of-da-match : Aaron (Celpigs)

Week 5 (9.07.06) Match 2

AC Melon 2 - Rarelyreal 2

SHARED HONOURS

Their first encounter ended goalless. In this re-match, both sides started aggresively with both keepers tested early on. R.Real threw away a golden opportunity to take the lead when they wasted a freekick with over-elaborate passings.

Shortly after, Melons took the chance to show them how it is done when James rifled in an unstoppable shot the went past the wall and the keeper for Melons' first goal. Not satisfied, Melons continued attacking and were rewarded when CK Lim poked the ball in from close range for their second goal.

Frustated by their scoreline, R.Real tighten their game and began to pressure Melons more. JianYi pulled a goal back for R.Real to go into halftime at 2-1.

Second half saw a more balanced game where both sides found it hard to penetrate each others strong defences. As the game seem destined to be another a win for Melons, a rare defensive mistake by the Melons defenders saw Raymond of R.Real taking a point blank shot that was impossible to save.

Though there were goals this time, both teams still can't be separated.

Man-of-da-match : Raymond (R.Real)

Goal Scorers :
James (1) - Melons
CK Lim (1) - Melons
JianYi (1) - R.Real
Raymond (1) - R.Real

Week 5 (09.07.06) Match 1

Whereda Breadman 5 - Celpigs 1

ROASTED PIGS !

It was supposed to be a tightly contested match but it seemed that no one passed Aaron's Pigs the script to follow. Instead, the match turned into a roasting for the Pigs as they were trounced 5 -1 by the resurgent An-neh Roti (trans. - the person who delivers bread to your house, Uncle Bread).

Shawn of Breadman started the bloodbath with a typical long range goal that caught the keeper blindsided. Jeshua added anothe goal to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Pigs put up a better fight in the second half but it was the Breadman who got the goals, with Shawn and Jeshua scoring one each again to go 4 up. Pigs pulled a goal back thru a powerful strike by Edrian but their fight back was shortlived as a Shawn put in another to get his first hat-trick of the season.

Man-of-da-match : Jeshua (W.Breadman)

Goal Scorers :-
Shawn (3) - Breadman
Jeshua (2) - Breadman
Edrian (1) - Pigs

It's Transfer Time!

It's time to splash the dough and see your profits grow.....oops, wrong mantra.

Anyway, it's transfer season next week and I'm sure all the managers will be busy plotting their next buys.

Buy well and there's no guarantee your new players will do well;

But, buy lousily, for sure you'll end up all pissy (pissed off or pissed on, your choice).

As there has been a few misconceptions and confusions about the transfer function and mechanism, read on to be enlightened :

1. We are only humans

a. We've tried our darndest best to make all teams as equitable and balanced during the selection.

b. However, we could not foresee injuries, absentees, pull-outs, lack of chemistry, salary disputes, bonus wrangles, war, etc.

c. Hence, the transfer session is the time for the managers to solve their team's problems in mid season.

2. No point playing la....

a. Without this correction system, there's no point for the struggling teams to continue playing and being beaten week in, week out.

b. They may as well 'tutup-kedai' and stop their misery.

c. Hence, the transfer session is seen as a golden opportunity for all teams to strengthen their squads and possibly give them hope of redemption.

3. But my team is strong and no one wants to go...

a. No one (as least most people) wants to die too but they still kick-the-bucket. It's life, live with it.

b. The transfer session has been put in place since the beginning, live with it.

c. While it has worked well for some, it wasn't so well for others. Hence, it's up to the managers to plan well.

d. Live with it.

4. But my team chemistry will be gone....

a. See (3) above.

5. But most players don't want to go...

a. Most players (if not all) don't want to pay RM8 every week either, if given the option.

b. Refer to (1) and (2).

6. Added excitement

a. The team combination is not a marriage contract; you don't have to stay together till death do you apart.

b. Transfers will give players and managers chance to play with more people, rather than just the same 8 people for the whole of 2 and 1/2 months.

c. It will enhance frienships and bonds, while getting to know more people through futsal.

Hope this clear all doubts.

Still unhappy?.... go lick a baby's nappies :)

Just joking la....but seriously.

Ciao.

Week 5 - Preview Of Matches

Upcoming matches this sunday (9.7.06)

Match 1 (4.10pm)
W.Breadman (4th) vs Celpigs (5th)

Good chance for the Pigs to pick up some points as W.Breadman seems to be in a slump, after losing 2 games in row. Both teams will need to pick themselves up to continue challenging for the championship.

Previous meeting : 1 -1

Match 2 (4.50pm)
AC Melon (2nd) vs Rarelyreal (3rd)

Their first meeting ended in a goalless draw. Melon is on an unbeaten run while R.Real is struggling to find consistency. However, R.Real might find it hard to score against the league stingiest defence.

Melon will be hoping to continue their fine run. A victory will ensure they keep pace with the league leader and confine R.Real to a distant 3rd.

Previous meeting : 0 - 0

Match 3 (5.30pm)
Real Madreed (1st) vs Celpigs (5th)

R.Madreed is on a fine run, unbeaten since the beginning. Celpigs will have to pull out all stops to stop R.Madreed from getting full points. If the Pigs play to the best of their abilities, victory is not an impossibility as the last match ended with a solitary winning goal to R.Madreed.

Previous meeting : R.Madreed 1 - Celpigs 0

Week 4 (2/7/06) Match 3

Real Madreed 6 - Rarelyreal 1

Goals Fiesta!

Real Madreed, held by an understrength AC Melon last week, seemed to have let it rip and release all their pent up frustrations on Rarelyreal with a scoreline that's almost unreal.

Jong Chern gave R.Madreed an early after some neat passing in midfield. R.Real tried gamely to hit back but R.Madreed's defence, marshalled by the evergreen Andy, stood firm.

R.Madreed went into halftime 2 goals up, courtesy of a fine strike by Andy from the halfway line.

2nd half resumed with the game finely balanced but R.Real were somehow finding it hard to get their game into attacking mode. As the game was restricted to midfield, Andy started taking shots from the halfway line and even his own half, managing to score two more goals for his first hat-trick of the season.

In between, Jong Chiueh and Gilbert scored one goal each for R.Madreed to complete the rout. Cho Fatt managed to pull a goal back for R.Real but that was insufficient to prevent R.Real from suffering their worst defeat of the season.

Man-of-the-match : Andy (R.Madreed)

Goal scorers :
Jong Chern (R.Madreed)
Andy - 3 (R.Madreed)
Jong Chiueh (R.Madreed)
Cho Fatt (R.Real)
Gilbert (R.Madreed)

Week 4 (2/7/06) Match 2

Whereda Breadman 1 - AC Melon 3

Revenge's Best Served Cold

AC Melon came seeking seeking payback for their first game defeat inflicted by W.Breadman while W.Breadman came seeking to reverse their fortunes after losing their previous game.

W.Breadman scored first when Melon's goalie misjudged a long shot by Shawn and allowed the ball to sail into the upper right corner of the goal. Undaunted, Melon hit back to level the score after a long range shot by James deflected off a defender's legs and sailed into goal.

Energized by the goal, Melon continued to pour forward and took greater control of the match as Breadman were restricted to taking long shots at goal. Henry gave Melon a well deserved lead after the interval and added another to cement Melon's only second win of the season.

Man-of-the-match : Henry (AC Melon)

Goal scorers :
Shawn (W.Breadman)
James (AC Melon)
Henry -2 (AC Melon)

Week 4 (2/07/06) Match 1

Rarelyreal 2 Celpigs 0

Pigs creamed!

Celpigs suffered another defeat in the hands of the roaring Rarelyreal led by Ryan Leong. Cho Fatt of R.Real got the game going with a powerful shot that went past Celpigs goalie's despairing dive. Celpigs, playing without their defensive stalwarts Chi Siang and Kok Wai; and midfield lynchpin, Alwin, found it hard to get a grip on the game.

As R.Real continued to rush forward, the Pigs defended stubbornly to deny them any more goals. Edrian of Celpigs were even yellow carded for a body charge on Ryan but the resultant freekick were woefully wasted.

Neat interpassing saw R.Real surge ahead courtesy of a rare goal from Lawrence. Despite his heroics, Celpigs manager-cum-goalie, Aaron, were unable to steer his team out of another defeat.

Man-of-the-match : Aaron (Celpigs)

Goal scorers :
Cho Fatt (R.Real)
Lawrence (R.Real)
